An apology to my blog

My dear blog,

I wish to apologise unreservedly for having neglected you for so long. My only excuse is that I don’t have an excuse, other than life being so full. Not only having a new novel coming out as an audiobook later this year but I’ve been teaching creative writing, cutting grass that won’t stop growing, and working on several new writing projects.

For example, my forthcoming series, BAD SEEDS is shaping up to what I hope is sort of a cross between Person of Interest, Breaking Bad and The Avengers. That was my elevator pitch, folks.

And I will be self publishing my formerly anthologised novelette, DEAD BOYFRIENDS, though Amazon Kindle. News on that will follow shortly – I’ll be offering free copies to those of you who are willing to review it on Goodreads, your blog or website, or otherwise tell others about it.

News of the week

Books and Blogs

Some news for the week, a couple of things about what I’ve been up to and some noteworthy stuff from others.

First, my latest blog on Amazing Stories is called Cyberpunk’d and is up now.

Second, my YA steampunk superhero novel, The Mechanikals, is being released episodically , for free, over at Wattpad. I plan to put all the chapters in as fast as I can, time permitting. I hope you’d consider giving it a read, leaving comments or voting.

Podcasts of Note

Writing Excuses is an excellent podcast show  for aspiring authors. It’s presented in useful, bite-sized chunks of around 15 minutes an episode. The show hosts  leading lights in science fiction, fantasy and horror in  both  narrative and comic book format, Mary Robinette Kowal, Brandon Sanderson, Howard Tayler  and Dan Wells.

Tales to Terrify – the horror podcast on which I have had stories and for whom I have narrated work by others a couple of times – has been named 2013 Podcast of the Year by This Is Horror. Very well done, chaps and chapesses!

Vote for SciFi Drama Queen

One of my fellow bloggers on Amazing Stories, Samantha Henry, has had her terrific blog, SciFi Drama Queen, nominated for a UK Blog award. Congrats, Sam! I hope you will share the love by voting for her blog at: http://www.blogawardsuk.co.uk/blog-entries/sci-fi-drama-queen/. Samantha covers a wide range of material in her blog, from film, to books and even social media. Most recently she reviewed one of my own favourite films this past year, The Impossible, starring the winning combination of Naomi Watts and a fellow Scot, Ewan McGregor. There’s also some stuff about 50 Shades of Grey, mentioning that the film version will star Matt Bomer – I swear, for a second I misread that, and that the actor was called Matt Boner! Just my warped mind, probably. I repeat: vote for SciFi Drama Queen.
